Interior Drywall Water Damage

vertical interior drywall water damage probably caused from roof leaks

Whenever I see this type of interior drywall water damage, I automatically assume that water is somehow getting in between the gap where two pieces of drywall are butting together, vertically. Water somehow soaks into the gap and works its way down to the bottom, usually leaving something like this on the wall as the gap fills up with water, then soaking into the drywall and drywall finishing materials.

The picture below shows you what it would look like before the drywall is finished, giving you a better idea what I'm talking about.

Drywall damage like this is usually easy to repair, but you will need to find out where the water is coming from and make the necessary repairs, to stop the water from entering the home, before fixing the interior damage.
